Why you should be more grateful.

One of the best ways to experience happiness all the time is by being grateful. When you appreciate the little things in life, you start to shift your view from one of scarcity to one of abundance.

We spoke about taking responsibility in our last Extraordinary and Happiness living series, and by being grateful to what happens to us, it allows us to accept the responsibilities in our lives. When life gets hard, things get challenging, life seems to be unfair, instead of blaming the things around us, we can in a way, be grateful that it’s happening to us.

What Steve meant by that and what I said about being grateful for life’s challenges is that what if we needed these challenges so that we can grow as a person. Challenges are what builds and defines our character. What if we need to go through whatever it is, so that we can be the person we need to be in the future? I know it’s hard especially when life throws you a curve ball but think of all the times you struggled and how much stronger you came out from it.

Everything becomes much clearer in hindsight.

If you’re grateful for everything you have, you’re constantly appreciating all the little things around you. When you appreciate that you have enough in life, you shift your focus on the things you might or have missed out on, to things you already have and that little shift alone can change how happy you feel.

The thing is when you’re happier, it creates an enormous shift in your personality too. Have you noticed happier people are usually more relaxed, they are nicer, are making those around them smile more and they have a sense of calm about them that makes you want to be around them?

Being grateful can make life so much more easy. And when it’s easier it allows you to do more things because you’re willing to experience life more. And when you’re experiencing life more, you get more out of life and more fulfilled at the same time.

Now think of what you’re grateful for on a daily basis. When you don’t take things for granted and appreciate them instead, you’ll shift your focus and you’ll start to be more opened to all the opportunities and beauty that is around you.
